What is your fondest memory of being in band?
My fondest memory of being in band was my Junior Year of high school. We just finished performing at finals at BOA Waco, and everyone from the students to the staff and even the parents knew it was the best run of the entire season. The amount of love, excitement, and the joy of doing what you love with the people that love you and love the activity is empowering. I walked away that night being a proud member of the Martin Band.
How did band help you become successful in your career and/or life?
Band has help me become successful in life because of the many life skills you learn. I have learned to establish my leadership and people skills, and friendships and mentorships that will be important in the future.
What do you wish someone would have told you when you were a freshman?
One thing I wish someone told me as a freshman is don’t rush things. Live in the moment. There were many times I was always looking toward the finish line. Once I took a step back and looked at the bigger picture of the Martin Band, it was those people and how we handle ourselves that made me love what I do even more. Enjoy each and every day with the people around you.
